Hi! I am Maya!

I'm the world’s leading Maqam & Taqsim mentor, here to help dancers and Arabic music lovers unlock the soul of maqam and taqsim in a few months — without dry theory or the need for any prior music training.

My revolutionary system compresses decades of learning into months, helping you hear maqam by ear, feel it in your body, and express it with authenticity — even with a busy schedule or a full-time job.

I’m a multi award-winning Syrian qanun player — born, raised, and classically trained in Syria — with 37+ years of experience performing and teaching in universities in Oman and the UK.

Over the years, I’ve guided hundreds of students around the world to master maqam intuitively, perform taqsim with confidence, and connect deeply with the living soul of Arabic music.

Called the “Queen of the Qanun” by the BBC, I’ve performed globally and shared my work through BBC, Classic FM, The Guardian, and the Financial Times — all while supporting a growing international community of artists and enthusiasts on their maqam journey.
